The artistic work of Markus Vater moves easily and naturally in a wide variety of artistic genres. These include drawing, painting, sculpture, animation, video and photography. Of particular importance in his work are self-authored texts. In the exhibition Objects of Significance, he combines these with photographs, thereby creating subtly humorous, absurd, but also poetic and reflected visual worlds.
Markus Vater deals with the questions of being human, the absurdities of everyday life, the existence of God, the seen and the dreamed. His works and choice of themes are characterized by subtle humor, as well as peculiar word and sentence inventions and subtly trigger reflection on existential questions.
