About the artist

Bogomir Ecker was born in 1950 in Maribor, Yugoslavia.
After an apprenticeship as a typesetter from 1965 to 1968, he studied under Horst Egon Kalinowski at the Karlsruhe Kunstakademie from 1971 to 1973 and then under Fritz Schwegler and Erich Reusch at the Düsseldorf Kunstakademie until 1979. From 1993 to 2002, he was Professor of Sculpture at the Hochschule für bildende Künste Hamburg and from 2002 until his retirement in 2016, Professor at the Hochschule für bildende Künste Braunschweig.

About the artist

Haleh Redjaian was born in Frankfurt am Main in 1971.
She studied art history at the Goethe University in Frankfurt and continued her studies in drawing and printmaking and then in sculpture at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp, where she completed her degree in fine arts. In Berlin, she worked as an assistant to the well-known Venezuelan artist Arturo Herrera for eight years. In 2021/2022 she took part in the Hessian Cultural Foundation’s travel scholarship to Iran and Senegal.

About the artist

Sophie Ullrich’s paintings show wide, often empty spaces, in which at times comic-like stylized figures, or influences from Pop Art can be found.
Often the protagonists are reduced to outlines and form the connection between narration, abstract elements and schematic backgrounds. Surreal long limbs and often missing heads of the figures, create humorous impulses in the sceneries.
Her visual language had already started to develop during her studies and has since enabled the artist to fill her works with a wide variety of themes.
